"Sorry Fans" - in regards to radio play

X,

I wish I could've saw this post earlier. Yeah! It was true.. I got a email from Craig Blac bout radio play. I guess shyt happens. After my fans called in for nearly two hrs. I guess next time.. its official. But I did get word that it is goin to get play (Monday) its Friday. I left it at that. I do not listen to the radio for several reasons. One, just being I do not want to get into the hype. Everything that is played on the radio is selected by certain persons from the station. If I am correct- muzik is played on the basis of votes. Ya dig. I got a trick up my sleeve comin. You probably already heard what artist I am going to get..so watch out world.. its a rap.

Re: "Sorry Fans" - in regards to radio play

heh... on the real, it aint votes b...

I used to think that way too.. that the songs at the top of the hitlist were the ones that were the best, because the most people liked them, the most requested, thats why they're at the top...

fact is most of the time the dj doesnt even get to choose the plays.  There's a playlist and a couple new tunes get added to it every week.  The competition to get on this list is fierce.  The main criteria for this list is if you will be bringing ears to the sets.. will you be pulling listeners.. they always go with the proven choice...

now, used to be you could bribe a dj to play what you wanted... this was called payola.. money for plays was outlawed in the 50s... so what do you do?  you bribe djs w/ hookers and blow.  This sort of went out of fashion in the 80s, so now you bribe the program managers w/ big screen tvs and shit.  What local cats do is either become a radio dj themselves (kaos?) OR buy tons of advertising on the station and get in good that way.  seriously, listen for this.

naw man.. unless its a "local artist" show you have a slim slim chance of getting plays.

Your best bet is club djs.  no playlist, no advertisers to worry about, no suit breathing down their neck... and handing them $$$ to play your shit is 100% straight.  Hookers and blow work too.  Or you can just build relationships with them, become friends, and ask for their honest feedback on your tunes.  If they dig it offer them advance promo copies.  They feel like they know you and they're part of something and they getting the prerelease hot shit nobody else got... they gonna play the crap outta that b.

pump it in the clubs, build hype there.
